Trenten's Turn

Well, Trent mastered the "ticked off" look.  This took ALOT of bribery and threats just to get him out here.  I get two looks from Trent - angry I dragged him out here and Hamming it up with ridiculous poses.  So most of the ones on here are serious faces, but if you want to see silly, I have about 150 of those in a file.

Emily's First Shoot -

Here are some favorites from some pictures I took of Emily. Still trying to get some great shots, working with the setting sun wasn't too bad, in fact it probably made it easier - Emily's eye's light up with the sun, and her red lips really stand out - yep - those are the Schubert lips - everyone always asks if she's wearing lipstick. Wish I had red lips like that!

All I've ever wanted to do is get a great moon shot.  While driving home yesterday, the moon was setting and setting fast.  I pulled off the interstate by the Watiki exit and sat at a truck stop and snapped pictures until I finally got close to what I wanted.  Most frustrating thing I've ever done, someday I will master this task!

Just looking up from Trent's football game in Sturgis tonight, was this wall of rock -  amazing picture just the way it was without any editing.  Nice when it works out that easy - beginners luck I guess.

My Emily - almost 10 yr old!

Interesting - they change color the color of the cocktail
as they steep in cold water.

Looking from my bar rail to our lobby  - love the lines - thank you Laura.

My New Ambition

Well, its time.  For years I've thought about photography and trying to pick it up as a hobby, but something always came first.  Whether it was finances, schedules, insecurities, or just lack of knowledge, something always kept me from getting into it.
This last week I made a big purchase. Though there are so many other cameras that are by far more equipped than mine, I found the one I had been researching and finally made the purchase.  Having spent more money than I had ever spent before on a single "want" item (one that I truly have no idea if I will ever be good at) made me nervous and excited all at once.  So nervous, that I hesitated opening the box when I got home.
I love it.  After talking to a few photography professionals and grabbing a few tips, I started my amateur adventure.  Jason just smiles and shakes his head, and my kids are probably getting tired of me always on the laptop until wee hours of the morning, but I love it.
The shots I'm most interested in taking and creating are pictures of things that most everyone walks by without noticing.   The crack in the sidewalk, the texture of the fence, the pattern of a wing on a dragonfly.  These "things" fascinate me.  To be able to capture an item and see exquisite potential from it than anyone ever thought possible
 - always amazes me.
I remember shopping in an old junk store as a teenager  - being drug there by my parents - and falling in love with objects that were different or served no purpose to most people.  I remember finding a semi truck mirror and begging Mom to buy it.  For years it sat on my bedroom dresser and I used it to do my hair and makeup. I wish I had a picture of that - things become perishable over time - whether lost or biodegradable, I want to capture those things.  With that said, I'm Passionate about perishability,
